Designated Offering: Unity Shelter

Designated Offering

Unity Shelter

Each month, we designate a particular social service organization for financial support through special collections on Sundays. This December, our special offering goes to Unity Shelter.

Unity Shelter is an umbrella organization which handles grants and donations for the men’s cold weather shelter, Room at the Inn and SafePlace. While the pandemic and social distancing limit the number of people who can be served, they are still open.

“I am excited about Unity Shelter. When I saw the little shelters behind churches, I wanted to know more. The Director, Shawn Collins, told me of their other services: a women’s shelter and feeding place, a men’s shelter soon to reopen, a refurbished motel for families, and 31 tiny “safe place” buildings. How great; they certainly deserve our support.” —Scott Smith from Good Sam

A donation this month will help Unity Shelter continue their mission: “Providing safe shelter through collaborative care.”

Make a designated offering

Please give prayerful consideration to this month’s designated offering. To participate, make out a check to Church of the Good Samaritan, write “designated offering” on the memo line, and place it in the plate during the Sunday services offertory (or mail it to our office). You can also use the “designated offering” envelope found in the back of each pew.

At the end of each month, we write a single check from Good Sam to the organization we’ve designated for our support. Thank you for helping to ensure that this valuable service can continue!
