The Revolt of the Widows

Revolt of the Widows

A Feminist Guide to the Christian Apocrypha

The Apocrypha is a class of books that existed alongside the books that later became the New Testament. They offer an unusual view of early Christianity.

In these lectures we will visit the world of the late second century apocryphal Acts. You will see rare beasts and have unique adventures. You will see flying magicians, dazzlingly beautiful maidens falling in love with itinerant apostles, and women attacked by carnivorous seals. Finally, you will meet the lion who speaks liturgically and declares his faith in the One True God by declining the amorous advances of a lady lion. What’s not to like?
