Easter Basket Drive

Easter Basket Drive

Gifts for High-risk Children

This year, the Church of the Good Samaritan is providing Easter baskets to children served by Healthy Families, a home visiting program provided through the Old Mill Center.

The program serves high-risk families with babies or toddlers (newborn to age three). These families are considered high-risk because they face difficult circumstances related to finances, mental health, drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, or social isolation.

How do Easter baskets help?

Our Easter baskets will be delivered by the program’s home visitors to selected families during their regular visits.

The baskets not only give a bit of joy to low-income families; they also reinforce positive relationships between families and the Healthy Families staff. Relationships of trust can help these families improve parenting skills, health outcomes and school readiness, connect to supportive community resources, and prevent child maltreatment.

In short, this drive offers a way to show these families hope, helping parents and children move from a place of stress and despair to lives of new possibility. And that is resurrection.
