Sung Compline

On Sunday evenings, we practice Sung Compline, a contemplative prayer service in song.

A unique offering in the state of Oregon, this contemplative, candlelit service offers a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and recharge before heading into a new week.

I want to drop in

Compline is offered from October 1st through June: simply drop into the Sanctuary at 7pm on Sunday evenings. There is no expectation of social interaction at this event. Newcomers welcome.

A Space Set Apart

Against the backdrop of candlelight, Gregorian chant, polyphony, and other ancient music sung by the Good Sam Schola Cantorum, you are invited to use the space in the way you find most meaningful.

You are welcome to lie down, bring a blanket or yoga mat, light a candle, meditate, or engage in any other practice that will not disturb others.

Compline, also called Prayer at the Close of Day, is the last prayer (or “office”) of the evening observed in liturgical and monastic traditions. While some monastic practices have as many as seven offices a day, the Anglican tradition observes three: Morning Prayer, Midday Prayer, and Compline.

Come as you are, and know that there is no congregation participation in the service. Simply bask in the music and candlelight and let your spirit be refreshed!
