Get Involved! The Second Shepherds’ Pageant
Christ and a Monk and Two Shepherds, 1270

Join Good Sam’s Production of The Second Shepherds’ Pageant!

You’re invited to join as an actor, singer, musician, and/or stage hand in the first-ever Sundays@3 play, showing on the twelfth night of Christmas (January 5, 2025).

The titular shepherds from the Christmas story are abiding in the fields at night. After a very farcical and comical beginning, they end up bringing gifts to the Baby Jesus. A lamb is stolen by a con artist (to be played by Glenn McCumber). Mayhem ensues, but order is restored with an Angel’s visit, proclaiming the Good News (the angel will be played by Fr. David Marshall!).

This new version of the 15th Century Medieval Play has been adapted and translated by parishioner Dr. Linda Marie Zaerr, retired professor of Medieval Studies from Boise State University. Designer Erica Jones will design and build custom costumes for each participant. The production will be directed by Dr. Charlotte Headrick, professor of Theater emerita of OSU, with music directed by Zachary Duell and performed by harpist Laura Zaerr, viellist L. M. Zaerr — and YOU!

There are several acting roles available, and non-acting roles for singers/musicians. One of the roles is the Virgin Mary (with only seven lines of dialogue!). Also needed are stage hands and tech/lighting support. Copies of the play are available from Zachary or Charlotte.

Please be a part of this exciting project — the first play ever presented for Sundays@3!

To get involved: see Charlotte and Zachary after church THIS SUNDAY, October 13th during and after coffee hour for a brief, no-pressure conversation. No “audition” required — all are welcome to participate in this fun event!
