Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

If you’re a woman and you’re in the Episcopal Church, you’re a member of the ECW — even if this is the first you’ve heard of it!

Many Episcopal churches have an ECW. Nationally, the purpose of the group is “to empower the women of the Episcopal Church to carry out Christ’s work throughout the world.”

More locally, its purpose is “to celebrate all women’s ministries in the Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Oregon and to encourage and support outreach and spiritual growth fulfilling our Baptismal covenant to extend Christ’s kingdom on this earth.”

The ECW at Good Sam gathers once a month (except during the summer) to make friends, plan fundraising events, and enjoy programs of interest.

We support projects like Crossroads Conversation School for Women, cover the cost of church supplies, and see that its equipment is well cared for. When someone in our congregation is planning a reception for a wedding, anniversary or funeral, we help with preparations. We also organize programs within our group based on our own interests, from sharing a slideshow of someone’s recent travels, to inviting the Cancer Center in Portland to come do a talk for us.

If you’d like to build deeper relationships with the women of our church and make a difference while you’re at it, come show up at our next gathering.
